All of the Luminox watches that we carry are models that are highly sought after! Some of our customer's favorites are the Navy SEAL, the Sea Turtle, the Giant Sea Turtle, and the Black Ops. Many include the unidirectional rotating bezel and the anti-reflective sapphire crystal for scratch resistance which are perfect features for all types of adventures.
Luminox watches are known for their military-style and their always-visible tritium lume. Luminox makes watches for US Coast Guard, US Air Force, Navy SEALs and a variety of other special forces and EMS teams world wide.
And keep in mind - these negative reviews are only on the first page of Google. The posters don't specify their models, so I assume that it's the cheaper Luminox watches they're talking about.
Luminox has a more eye-catching "military" style. The analog display also makes it look more "elegant" than G-Shock. Luminox watches are also thinner, so they are more comfortable to wear with suits and shirts.
There is a significant difference in looks between the two watches. The styles are different and both Luminox & G-Shock look great in their own way. No clear winner here, as it comes down to personal preference.
Cheaper Luminox watches start around $200 but have problems with quality. If you want a Luminox watch that'll last, expect to pay more than $300. Compared to G-Shocks, Luminox watches are overpriced.
I have owned both. I currently wear a Luminox Pointman every day. One thing I have found with people that have had Luminox watches with issues is they bought a counterfeit watch. You have to be careful when buying a Luminox from anyone other than an authorized dealer. There are a lot of counterfeit ones out there that look very close to the real thing. You can research how to tell the difference. They are both great watches in my opinion.
I just bought a g shock series 700. It sums. At night I can't see the small hand at night. There are no lumping. I'm going to take it by an authorized dealer before I return it. As of now my g shock is useless at night. It has a digital display that is not illuminated when you press the light so at night you can't read it. The light is basically useless. I think this is shock bias review. FYI I own a luminox and have had no trouble as far as durability
First introduced in 1994, the original Luminox Navy SEAL watches are the timepieces that put Luminox on the map. Navy SEALS procurement officer, Chief Nick North, and Luminox worked together to develop these watches specifically for the SEALS. The ultra-lightweight and extreme ruggedness are still the features that make the Original 3000 Series a favourite of the Navy SEALS today.
The Commando Frogman was developed in collaboration with military and law enforcement expert Andrea Micheli, who helped create the Luminox Recon Line. Aimed at all military, police and professional divers, as well as outdoor enthusiasts, these watches are tough enough to withstand just about anything, and at 46mm, they can be worn in any situation.
In addition to ice, heavy rain and strong winds, ICE-SAR (the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association) also has to contend with limited daylight visibility, as Iceland is in partial or complete darkness for several months during the winter. In such conditions, Luminox watches are the perfect choice thanks to their robust structure and illumination system.
The Atacama Field Automatic 1900 series is named after the Atacama Desert, one of the most extreme stretches of land on earth. The 1900 series was designed with extreme adventure in mind, but is also perfect for everyday wear. The watches feature an automatic movement, a stainless steel case and are water-resistant.
The ICE-SAR Arctic 1050 Series watches are manufactured for durability and reliability and embodies the endurance and resilience of the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) team and the bravery they symbolize.

In 1992, the company launched its iconic Navy SEAL watch - a collaboration between the Luminox founder and the Assistant Officer-in-Charge of RDT&E, West Coast, Nick North. The tremendous success of the Navy SEAL watches encouraged several other establishments and law enforcement groups from around the world to approach Luminox watches. Some of the notable names are the U.S. Coast Guard, Singapore Air Force, the New York City Police Department, and the Special Military Forces of Israel. Some of the trendiest Luminox watch models have been inspired by the F-117 Nighthawk Stealth fighter jet, the Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird and F-22 Raptor, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
With the launch of a slew of innovative watch series, the brand saw landmark achievements in the following years, expanding to more than 50 countries and making its presence truly global. In 2006, Luminox watches increased its reach to the Asian and European markets when Swiss brand Mondaine acquired fifty per cent of its stakes. Ten years later, the Mondaine Group purchased the remaining half of Luminox to become its sole owner.
